2024 Centreville Holiday Parade-Applications are Live!
Centreville Holiday Parade
Applications Now Available
The 2024 Centreville Christmas Parade is scheduled for Friday, December 6th beginning at 6:30 p.m. This year's theme will be "A Winter Wonderland" .
A maximum of 90 entries will once again be permitted this year.
Intent
It is the intent of the Parade Committee to make this a float-oriented parade. Trophies are awarded to floats only and will be presented at the January 2, 2024 Town Council Meeting. Trophy categories are: Most Original (1st, 2nd, 3rd); Keeping with the Theme (1st, 2nd, 3rd); and Best Overall.
Toys for Tots
The Centreville Christmas Parade Committee is asking for participants of the parade and spectators to donate to TOYS FOR TOTS again this year. Boxes will be available for the drop off of items at the end of Lawyers Row on Commerce Street along the parade route. Please bring a new, unwrapped toy to help those in our community during the upcoming holiday season.
Things to Remember...
Although walking groups are permitted to participate, to help with the supervision and safety of the parade, the committee is encouraging no walking groups (except marching bands). Please note: The total length of the parade is approximately 2.06 miles.
Please ensure the total length of your entry (float & vehicle), truck, bus, etc. is noted in the proper places on your entry form in order to space the line-up accordingly at the Queen Anne's County High School.
Please make sure to mark if your entry will have music or not. This is vital information when preparing the order of entries in the line-up.
No candy or objects of any kind may be thrown to parade spectators from any parade unit. This is for the safety of our spectators. You may have someone walk along the parade route with your unit and hand out candy, etc. However, throwing is not permitted.
Replicas of Santa or persons dressed as Santa will not be allowed in the parade. The only entry that is permitted to have a live Santa Claus will be the “Official Santa Float”. Any group failing to adhere to this will be removed from the lineup (it can be quite disturbing to small children when they see more than one Santa). Santa hats and Elf hats are allowed and encouraged!
Replicas of Mrs. Claus or people dressed as Mrs. Claus are not allowed in the parade.
Line-up Numbers
Line-up numbers are assigned by the Parade Committee and will be available on the Town’s website on or about Monday, November 27, 2024. Please visit www.townofcentreville.org to find your line up number. Please ensure all members of your group know the line-up number or the correct name of the group prior to arriving. This will ensure everyone in your group is directed to the correct area. Carpooling is encouraged to reduce the amount of traffic at QACHS.
Marching Bands
The staging area for marching bands, except for Queen Anne’s County High School and Middle School bands, will be staged across the street from QACHS along John Andrews Blvd. Please ensure bus drivers are aware of this!
Parade Route
The parade route is scheduled to leave Queen Anne's County High School at 6:30 p.m., proceed down Ruthsburg Road/Railroad Avenue and take a right onto Banjo Lane and turn left onto Turpins Lane, continue on Turpins Lane and turn left onto Commerce Street; continue south on Commerce Street and turn left on Kidwell Avenue; continue on Kidwell Avenue and turn right on Ruthsburg Road.
